Fire has gutted several offices at the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory (NHPRL) adjacent to the Diabetes Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
An eyewitness said the fire started at about midnight Tuesday, and was put out completely at about 5 am Wednesday morning.
Affected offices include the stores, archives, accounts and administration.
He told Myjoyonline that several documents and equipment running into millions of cedis were destroyed, along with archival materials pre-dating Ghana’s independence.
“Everything was burnt ashes”, he stressed.
