Sixty-two residents at Anomatoa in Techiman municipality were rendered homeless this week when fire swept through the town and destroyed six houses.
James Kwabena Osei, Assembly Member said there were no casualties but the extent of damage to property could be more than 24 million cedis.
He said 4.2 million cedis cash was burnt while 20 bags of maize, a large quantity of yams, clothing, spraying machines, cooking utensils and sewing machines were also destroyed by the fire.
The Assembly member said the displaced residents were putting up with friends and relatives.
Meanwhile, the Techiman municipal office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has presented relief items worth 18 million cedis to the victims.
The items included three tents, 12 blankets, 14 cups, eight plastic basins, 12 lanterns and 22 eating bowls.
Adolf Adjei Sakyi, assistant disaster control officer of NADMO who made the presentation advised farmers to be careful when carrying naked fires to their farms.
He asked them to deposit their monies at the banks instead of keeping them in their rooms.
