Former Interior Minister, Nana ObriYeboah has described as unfortunate claims by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) that it has no relief items to support flood victims.NADMO boss Kofi Portophy has declared the organization broke and as a result says they cannot assist flood victims.Government also says it can only empathize with victims of this year’s floods.
But Nana ObriYeboah has described government’s position as unfortunate and is appealing to all Ghanaians to assist the flood victims.Government’s stance on this matter is unfortunate, he noted “but I think that all Ghanaians can also contribute our widow’s mite, we can organize and then raise something substantial to assist the victims”.Nana ObriYeboah also backed calls for the establishment of a disaster fund to support persons likely to be displaced by future disasters.
