The Group of French Ambassadors in Ghana, in partnership with French agencies in Ghana and Alliance Française Accra, is holding the Francophonie Festival 2025.
The vibrant celebration of French language and Francophone cultures started from March 15th to April 13th, 2025.
Anchored by the theme "Je m'éduque, donc j'agis" (I educate myself, therefore I act), the festival underscores the value of education. The festival celebrates Ghana's full membership in the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the opportunities this presents for cultural exchange, educational collaboration, and economic partnership.
Accra's Dynamic Program:
The Francophonie Festival 2025 offered a diverse programme of events in Accra including the Flag Raising Ceremony (March 20th), Défi InterAlliance (March 20th), L'Avare Show (March 22nd), AUF Seminar (March 25th), Professional Day (March 27th), Photo Exhibition (March 27th), Kananayé Concert (March 29th), Football Tournament (April 5th-6th), Garden of Poets (April 13th),showcasing the richness of the Francophone world.

The Grand Culmination: Francophonie Parade and Fair
The Accra celebrations will culminate in a spectacular finale on April 12th with the Francophonie Parade and Francophonie Fair. The parade will commence at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, winding its way through the heart of Accra and concluding at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
Following the parade, the Francophonie Fair will take place at Alliance Française Accra at noon, offering a vibrant showcase of live performances, delicious cuisine from various French-speaking countries, and a grand closing ceremony.
Regional Celebrations:
The Francophonie spirit resonated throughout Ghana, with Kumasi and Cape Coast also hosting their own unique celebrations in the form of soirees, quiz competitions, recreation days and theatrical performances.
Understanding Francophonie:
"Francophonie" refers to the global community of states and governments that share the French language. The International Organization of La Francophonie (IOF) represents a significant linguistic zone, with a mission to promote the French language, cultural diversity, peace, democracy, education, and sustainable development.
The organisation has its headquarters in Paris, France, with regional offices all over the world, including the West African Regional Office (BRAO) in Lomé, Togo.
