This Saturday, the September 13th edition of Joy Prime’s flagship current affairs programme, Prime Insight, will deliver a thought-provoking discussion on two of Ghana’s most pressing issues.
President Mahama's refusal to declare a state of emergency amid the ongoing illegal mining (galamsey) crisis and the contentious call for increased tariffs by the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will dominate discussions.

Hosted by the seasoned broadcaster Kojo Brace, the 7 am – 9 am broadcast will bring together a dynamic panel of experts and advocates, each offering distinct perspectives on the nation’s political and socio-economic direction.
Diverse Panel of Experts
The guest lineup will feature:
- Elikem Kotoko, Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission, will provide insights from a government and environmental policy standpoint.
- Dr. Solomon Owusu, a mining engineering and mineral economics consultant based in the USA, will speak on the economic and environmental implications of galamsey.
- Awula Serwah, Coordinator for Eco-Conscious Citizens, will represent the civil society viewpoint, particularly regarding sustainable development and environmental accountability.
- Palgrave Boakye Danquah, former Government Spokesperson on Governance, will represent the government’s position on the issues under review.
- Ivan Kyei Innocent, a prominent youth activist, is expected to articulate the concerns and aspirations of Ghana’s youth, particularly on the impact of rising costs and governance decisions.
