The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the first batch of degree holders from Colleges of Education who successfully passed their licensure exams can now select schools of their preference through the GES portal.
Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Eric Nkansah, clarified that placements will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
According to Dr Nkansah, more than 12,700 graduates are eligible to choose regions and government basic schools of their choice where they wish to teach through the portal.
According to the GES, this initiative aims to address challenges such as language barriers and financial constraints among teachers.
The Director General explained that eligible graduates need to log unto the GES promotions platform with their necessary details to verify their qualifications.
“They will visit the GES promotions platform. The same platform they used in their application. They go back there, enter their college index number to verify their qualification. Enter your phone number. So your phone number and your NTC number that presupposes that before you qualify, you must have written the NTC exam, the licensure and passed.”
"This is crucial, since if you don’t do that, it will be very difficult for you to be validated and for you to be successful in your application. Once you do that, a one time password (OTP) would be sent to your phone number. The number that you have provided in the system. And you carefully select the region, the district you prefer and then a school of your choice within that district then you submit. After that you save and print out your appointment letter.”
GES also stated that the portal for placements will be accessible starting Friday, July 5, and will remain open until July 31.
