The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has issued a strong warning to the general public over rising incidents of fraud involving individuals posing as agents of the Fund to solicit money under the guise of offering scholarship placements.
In a statement issued on Friday, May 23, the management of GETFund said it has received reports of unscrupulous persons using its name and reputation to deceive unsuspecting Ghanaians, falsely claiming they can secure scholarship offers in exchange for cash payments.
“GETFund does not charge any fees at any stage of its scholarship application or award process,” the statement said, stating that no individual or organisation has been mandated to collect money on its behalf.
“These fraudulent claims are entirely false and should be disregarded. The public is strongly encouraged to treat any such solicitation as a scam and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate security agencies or directly to the GETFund Secretariat,” the management advised.
The Fund stated clearly that it would not be responsible for any financial losses suffered by individuals who fall victim to these illegal schemes.
Reaffirming its commitment to fairness and integrity, GETFund assured Ghanaians that its scholarship processes remain free, transparent, and merit-based.
