The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, has been honoured with the Ghana Women of Excellence Gold Award at the Ghana Women of Excellence Awards held to mark International Women’s Day 2026.
The recognition was conferred during the 11th edition of the awards ceremony held at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra. The event brought together distinguished personalities, leaders and advocates for women’s empowerment to celebrate women who have made remarkable contributions to national development.
Mrs Houadjeto received the honour in the Corporate Communications category in recognition of her contribution to the social and economic development of Ghana, particularly through her leadership and strategic communication efforts within the tourism sector.
The award was presented by Dr Joyce Rosalind Aryee, Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries, who commended the award recipients for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to advancing national development.
Mrs Houadjeto’s recognition highlights her commitment to strengthening institutional communication, promoting Ghana’s tourism brand and supporting initiatives that position Ghana as a preferred tourism destination. Her leadership continues to contribute to the broader goal of leveraging tourism as a driver of economic growth, cultural preservation and job creation.
Expressing gratitude after receiving the honour, Mrs Houadjeto said:
“I am deeply honoured and grateful to the organisers of the Ghana Women of Excellence Awards for this recognition.
I dedicate this award to the hardworking management and staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority whose dedication continues to inspire our work. The Ghana Women of Excellence Awards is an annual initiative that celebrates distinguished Ghanaian women whose leadership, service and achievements continue to inspire progress and empower future generations.
The Ghana Tourism Authority has congratulated its Chief Executive Officer on the recognition and commended her dedication to excellence and national service.
