The 2019 Ghana Football Associations (GFA) elections started on Friday with 10 Regional Football heads being elected by delegates.
There were fears that the RFA elections would not be held following reports of an injunction served the Normalisation Committee acting as the Elections Committee by disqualified Central Region aspirant Roy Arthur.
The RFA elections is a preview to the presidential and executive council elections scheduled for October 25, in Accra.
The elections were held in the ten RFA zones with three candidates retaining their seats. They are Yahaya Sadugu of Upper West Region, Salifu Zida of Upper East Region and Ashanti Regions’ Osei Tutu Agyeman popularly known as Kotoro.
Roy Arthur’s disqualification from the Central Region race meant that Robert Duncan stood unopposed and received backing from 63 delegates out of 75 present.
Daniel Agbogah also won Volta Region seat without any competition as he stood unopposed.
Of all the regions, Greater Accra had the most candidates with four contesting for the position. Samuel Aboabire polled 75 votes to beat his close competitor Eugene Jacquaye’s 49 votes to take the seat.
