Ghana's ascent in the global cybersecurity arena gained significant momentum this week as Corporal Dunstan Guba of the Ghana Police Service clinched a remarkable silver medal, placing 3rd overall, at the highly prestigious INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge 2025.

The intense, three-day, non-stop "Capture the Flag" (CTF) competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, brought together a curated assembly of over 100 elite white-hat hackers from law enforcement agencies representing more than 60 countries worldwide.

Corporal Guba’s performance is a testament to Ghana’s rapidly evolving capabilities in combating sophisticated digital threats.

The gruelling competition simulated real-world cybercrime scenarios, testing participants' advanced skills in areas such as digital forensics, network penetration, vulnerability assessment, and incident response under immense pressure.

Participants navigated complex digital environments, attempting to identify and exploit weaknesses while simultaneously defending their own systems.

"I was honoured to have represented Ghana and the Ghana Police Service and demonstrated our offensive and defensive cyber capabilities in fighting cybercrime on an international stage," Corporal Guba shared in a triumphant Facebook post, reflecting the immense pride his achievement has brought to the nation.

This achievement aligns with the nation's strategic efforts to fortify its cyber defence infrastructure, a critical component of its national security agenda.
