La Cote d’Ivoire has been strongly tipped to win this year’s African Cup of Nations tournament currently underway in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
According to Thomas Moreaux, a Sports Analyst, the caliber of players the Ivorians have and their playing skills attest to the fact that the Elephants can win the cup.
Giving post quarter-finals analysis of the ongoing tournament on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Monday, Thomas Moreaux insisted that La Cote d’Ivoire has proved beyond reasonable doubts that they will win AFCON 2012.
The last time the Ivoirians won the AFCCON tournament was in 1992 when they defeated Ghana in a record 11-10 penalty shootout.
On the performance of the Black Stars, Thomas Moreaux commended the Ayew brothers for their fighting spirit which largely helped Ghana to reach the semi finals.
He noted that the two brothers did well by ensuring that the Black Stars got the needed victory against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
He however cautioned that Ghana’s goalie, Adams Kwarasay, needs to be psyched up more in order to build his confidence and deliver well.
Looking forward, Thomas Moreaux warned that the head coach of Ghana’s semifinal opponents, Zambia, is a Physical Trainer who has trained the players on the physical level and the Black Stars players should expect a physically tasking match.
The ‘Chipolopolo Boys’ head coach Renard Herve worked previously with the Black Stars as Assistant to Serbian Duykovic.
Meanwhile, Kofi Appiah who is also a Sports Analyst however said Ghana reached the Semi-final stage by dint of hard work and was optimistic the Stars will bring the cup home.
He however urged Goran Stevanovic to be more tactical with the Zambian encounter because it will not be easy to walk over the Chipolopolo Boys.
