Ghanaians living in Nigeria are being heckled following the defeat of the Super Eagles of Nigeria by the Black Stars of Ghana in the first quarter-final match on Sunday.
Reports say some Ghanaians in Nigeria were being stoned forcing them to remain indoors.
Speaking to Joy News from Agege in Lagos, a Ghanaian national, Enoch Sackitey said the situation had forced them to stay indoors to avoid being stoned.
A source close to the Ghana High Commission in Nigeria confirmed the reports but said the skirmishes they were restricted to a few communities.
The source noted that the Nigerian police had been called upon to take urgent measures to ensure adequate security for the Ghanaians.
It urged all Ghanaians in Nigeria and elsewhere to remain calm as there was no need for panic.
The Black Stars of Ghana beat their Nigerian counterparts in a quarter-final match full of drama and expectation.
The Stars came from behind to beat the Super Eagles 2-1 to book a place in the semi-finals stage of the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana 2008.
They played the most part of the second half without their captain, John Mensah, who was suspended for fouling Odemwingie of Nigeria near the Ghanaian goal area.
