Giuseppina Baafi, a 22-year-old accounting student, has been crowned Miss Ghana 2013 at a colourful finale at the Banquette Hall, State House Saturday night. The Eastern regional representative beat 19 other hopefuls to win the coveted crown after a hotly contested finale, which had several renowned personalities in attendance. Some of the personalities who were in attendance included, Miss World 2012, Wenxia Yu; former First Lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings; and Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare. The 20 finalists, on night, put up splendid shows in their swim, traditional (Kaba and Slit) and evening wears. After those displays the number was cut down to 10. Before the number was reduced to 10, some of the of the contestants were given special awards. Crystal won Miss Photogenic, Margaret (Miss Skin), Safoa (Miss Top Model), Selasie (Miss Congeniality), Crystal (Miss Discipline), Michelle and Margaret (Beauty with a Purpose), Safoa (Miss Fitness), Guiseppina (Miss Bikini), Angelina (Miss Eloquence) and Matilda (Miss Talent). Crystal, Margaret, Safoa, Selasie, Guiseppina, Angelina, Matilda, Destiny, Michelle made it to the Top Ten. That number was later pruned to the Top Five finalists namely: Guiseppina, Michelle, Margaret, Crystal and Destiny. The Top Five, after giving their messages, were grilled through a Q & A session by the judges after which Guiseppina was a adjudged winner of this year's pageant. Magaret Kuma-Mintah and Crystal Selorm Amudzi were adjudged first and second runners-up respectively. For her prize, Guiseppina received a brand new car, a cheque of GHc3,000, one year ambassadorial service with Miss Ghana Foundation, one year accommodation at the Miss Ghana official house, ticket to represent Ghana at Miss World 2014 and other exciting prizes. Margaret and Crystal also received a car each for use during their reign, one ambassadorial service with the Miss Ghana Foundation, one year accommodation at the Miss Ghana official house and cash prize of GHc2,000 and GHc1,500 respectively. The night also witnessed some exciting performances from Wenxia Yu, Sherifa Gunu, Kwabena Kwabena amongst others.
