Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX, Omanhene of Lower-Dixcove in the Western Region, appealed to Government to build sea defence wall to prevent disaster in the area. He said the sea had eroded private buildings, schools, churches and markets, affecting the socio-economic development in the area. Nana Ageyman, who was speaking at a durbar, held by the chiefs and people of the area, to climax the Anluwa Kundum festival, said a delay in checking the sea erosion could result serious disaster. He commending Government for extending electricity to the area and appealed to the authorities to provide schools with computers and accessories to promote education. Nana Ageyman expressed worry that land that could be used for agriculture activities to crate jobs for the youth had been sold to plantation companies while other lands were being used for mining. He stressed that "it is difficult for the determined youth who want to venture into agriculture to acquire land." In a speech read on his behalf, the District Chief Executive for Ahanta West, Mr Jones Amoah asked the people to cooperate with the assembly for the development of the area.
