The government has started processes to create a Trust Fund that will cater for the welfare of the family of slain soldier, Major Maxwell Adams Mahama.
The Major Mahama Trust Fund Bill, 2017 was introduced in Parliament Tuesday, after Cabinet sanctioned it.
The soldier was murdered in May after residents of Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region, allegedly mistook him for an armed robber.
He was torched after he pleaded with the residents to spare his life, police have said.
His death sparked debate in the country over the spate of mob justice.

Wife of late soldier, Barbara Mahama
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo pledged his government’s commitment to ensure the welfare of the children and wife of the late soldier.
He announced the setting up of a memorial Trust Fund with ¢500,000 as seed money. He also offered a personal contribution of ¢50,000 towards the Trust.
The Bill presented in Parliament is aimed at speeding the creation of the Fund.
Defense Minister, Dominic Nitiwul told the media the Fund will solely be used to cater for the family of the slain soldier.
“It is essentially his fund [and] the object of the fund is to take care of his assigns [including wife and children],” he said.
The Trust will be headed by the Defense Minister, with membership from the Finance and Defense Committees of Parliament.
Former government Statistician Dr Grace Bediako will also be on the Board.
Mr Nitiwul said the government will be going out to source private money to add up to the seed money.
“We want to get this bill quickly done [and] hoping before the end of the month it will be passed,” he added.
The Bill has been referred to Parliament’s Finance and Defense Committees.
