Government has indicated that it will look into complaints of neglect by Ghanaians in Libya by its mission.
About ten thousand Ghanaians are said to be stranded in Libya following days of unrest to oust the Libyan leader, Muammar al Gaddafi.
Government has brought home the first batch of 55 stranded Ghanaians. Although they are happy to return home, they are accusing Embassy officials of neglecting them.
Some of the evacuees accused the Ghana mission in Libya of paying deaf ears to their desperate calls to evacuate them. They however praised officials of Ghana mission in Cairo for coming to their aid, but urged Government to immediately step in to evacuate thousands of other Ghanaians still stranded in Libya.
“There are thousands of Ghanaians stranded in Libya and cannot come out of their rooms, so Government must do something immediately because a lot of them are being killed" said one of the evacuees.
They want government to speed up the process of evacuating Ghanaian nationals who are still stranded in the troubled Country.
Meanwhile Deputy Information Minister Baba Jamal tells Joy News the volatile situation in Libya may have prevented the Embassy officials from offering the necessary help.
He however indicated that the complaints will be looked into.
