A Public Interest Advocacy Group, the National Watch, has expressed concern over the growing number of suspected and actual people with coronavirus on the run and has called on government to rise up to its responsibilities and ensure that the act seizes.
According to the group the actions of these people endanger the lives of others, thus rendering the efforts of government and other institutions to combat Covid-19 futile.
So far, three people who have tested positive for the coronavirus in the country are on the run.
Latest is the case in which a 46-year-old Nigerian, Simon Okafor, who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the Upper West Region, reportedly absconded after learning of his status.
In a statement, the group wants the government to ensure that maximum security is provided at facilities being used to house persons under mandatory quarantine as well as isolation centres.
