The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has announced plans for the construction of a new Community Senior High School (SHS) in the Shime area of the Anloga District in the Volta Region within the next 24 months.
According to the Minister, the initiative aims to give students in the Shime area easier access to secondary education without the need to travel long distances to neighbouring districts.
“The people of Shime deserve their own Senior High School. Government is committed to making this a reality, and within 24 months, this community will have its own functioning SHS,” Hon. Haruna Iddrisu assured.

He made the announcement during the commissioning of the first-ever ultra-modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) Smart Lab in Bleamezado, constructed by StarOil Ghana Limited in collaboration with Coral Reef Innovation Africa. The facility, the first of its kind in the Volta and Oti Regions, is designed to equip students and young people with digital and AI skills to prepare them for the future of work.
StarOil Commended for Supporting Education
The Volta Regional Director of Education, Mr Francis Agbemadi, commended StarOil and its partners for their foresight and commitment to advancing education, describing the project as a major boost to digital learning and innovation in the region.
“This is a timely and commendable initiative. It will enhance digital literacy and help our students develop the skills they need to succeed in the future. I urge them to study hard and make full use of this opportunity,” Mr Agbemadi said.

Coral Reef Innovation Africa Promotes AI for All
Mr Richard Osei-Anim, Managing Partner of Coral Reef Innovation Africa, said his organisation works with companies and institutions across the continent to prepare young people for the world of Artificial Intelligence.
“Coral Reef Innovation Africa is a Pan-African organisation committed to making Artificial Intelligence accessible to every community. We work with companies like StarOil to equip students and young innovators with practical AI skills for the modern world,” he explained.
He encouraged students in the Bleamezado and Shime areas to take advantage of the new facility.
“This is your time. Learn, explore, and use this facility to gain skills that will make you leaders in the AI-driven future,” he added.

A New Dawn for Education in Anloga
The commissioning of the AI Smart Lab and the government’s pledge to build a new Community SHS represent a major step forward for education in the Anloga District.
With the support of StarOil Ghana, Coral Reef Innovation Africa, and the Ministry of Education, the Shime and Bleamezado communities are set to benefit from improved access to both formal education and technological training—paving the way for a new generation of skilled and innovative learners.
