Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu visited the mother of the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, in the Eastern Region on Thursday, January 29.
The minister is understood to be on an official visit to the region and chose to meet the bereaved mother to extend his heartfelt condolences and offer support to the family in their mourning, several months after the late minister’s burial.
During the visit, Minister Iddrisu comforted the grieving mother, embracing her and offering words of reassurance. “God will see you through; God will give you the strength,” he said, underscoring his support for the bereaved family.
The mother, visibly moved, expressed her deep gratitude to all who have supported her since the passing of her son. “I thank you all for your support,” she said, reflecting both her personal appreciation and the collective sympathy extended.
Dr. Omane Boamah, who served as Ghana’s Minister for Defence, died on August 6, 2025, in a military helicopter crash while on official duty.
The Ghana Armed Forces Z‑9 helicopter, en route from Accra to Obuasi for an anti‑illegal mining engagement, crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, killing all eight people aboard, including Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology; Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice-Chair; Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
