The management of Nkoranza District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme is to collaborate with the District Directorate of Education to undertake educational campaigns on the importance and benefits of the scheme to woo more clients.Stephen Opoku Brobbey, Manager of the scheme and Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, the District Director of Education, said this after a meeting at which they discussed challenges facing the scheme in the district.
Mr. Brobbey said in spite of the district being the pace setter of the scheme in the country, less than half of its estimated population had registered with the scheme.
In 2005, the scheme recorded 46 percent out of the total population of 149,000 and this dropped to 43 percent in 2006 and investigations revealed that some parents refused to register their children.
He appealed to the District Education Directorate to educate school management committees and parent/teacher associations on the need to join the scheme.
Mr. Agyemang-Badu appealed to teachers in the district to take advantage of the opportunity offered them by SSNIT and register with the scheme.Source: GNA
