Ghana's Accra Hearts of Oak lost 2-1 to Nigeria's Enugu Rangers on Sunday in a friendly match as part of celebrations of the club's centenary year in a festive atmosphere at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians founded in 1911, finally played the game to mark the occasion as a host of icons were honoured a day before the match at a dinner in Accra.
On the day, the Phobians failed to pull the crowd as there were lots of empty seats but being outplayed by Enugu Rangers would set the tone for a busy week where they clash with their dreaded rivals, Asante Kotoko next Sunday in the Ghana league.
Fowards Razak Adegbete and George Aguda scored within seven minutes as the visitors raced into a two-nil lead.
Hearts of Oak managed a late consolation through Uriah Asante from a spot kick. The defeat, Hearts' second consecutive in five days will raise concerns as they now turn their sights to the domestic competition with their up-coming meeting against Kotoko.
