Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku has revealed he rejected the opportunity to join Medeama Sporting Club in favour of a return to Kumasi.
Opoku joined the Porcupine Warriors for a second stint last month, penning a two-and-a-half-year deal at the club after joining as a free agent.
He scored seven goals for Kotoko before signing for Algerian side USM Alger and subsequently for Moroccan outfit Olympique Khouribga.
The striker has been a hit for Kotoko since his return, scoring five goals in four appearances across all competitions since his debut.
Things, however, could have been different if the player had accepted an offer from Medeama.
"Medeama SC president, Moses Armah offered me a three-time better deal than what Asante Kotoko offered me but I declined and decided to join Kotoko," he told Asempa FM.
"Kotoko is the club that I have always wanted to play for so I decided to make a return."
Opoku's goals so far include four in three Ghana Premier League appearances the last two coming against Vision FC last weekend.
