Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda says he is not bothered to play second fiddle to Senzo Meyiwa at Orlando Pirates but will not rest until he claims the number goalkeeping spot.
The former Asantigold shot-stopper has faith he will soon get his chance at Orlando Pirates despite the strong form of Bucs number one Senzo Meyiwa in both the South African League and the just ended CAF Champions League - which Orlando Pirates finished as runners-up to winners Al Ahly.
While some pundits are of the view that Dauda's inactivity at club level may harm his international prospects, he appears calm over the situation.
"That has not bothered me," Dauda said on Orlando Pirates' official website.
"In the national team I have been having great support from everybody. In football things happen. I will get my chance at Pirates as long as I am active in the national team playing well … my turn to play for Pirates will have to come.
"I think I have done reasonably well for my national team and that has helped me stay focused and being considered. All keepers go through such periods, it will pass soon. I understand people’s excitement about my situation, but I am strong – I will keep working harder."
Meanwhile, Dauda expressed delight at helping the Black Stars qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
"Being in the World Cup is the ultimate dream of every footballer, ask any player," he said.
"If you do exceptionally well, the world notices. The World Cup is the biggest event on the planet, so I am definitely blessed and looking forward to going to Brazil".
