Policy think tank IMANI Ghana has condemned some government functionaries for launching what it says have been unwarranted attacks on professional groups for pointing out wrongs in the management of the country.It said it is also disturbed about what it describes as the motive-questioning and political labeling of resource persons when they critique government’s policies.The think tank said it finds it extremely unfortunate that government functionaries who supported their position during the previous regime will now engage in such acts in the name of politics.Head of IMANI Ghana Franklyn Cudjoe said “It must be made clear that once you are paid out of the public funds to conduct public education, it is your job to ensure that there is sufficient information for independent analysts to do their work.”Mr Cudjoe accused the government of making “little effort to be comprehensive in the information it releases to the general public, yet feels that a private analyst should have full access to official information.He said government officials are instead, branding organizations that criticize the government as political opponents,Mr. Cudjoe advised the government to get its acts in order, adding that the attacks will not stop them from criticizing government when necessary.Source: Joy News/Ghana
