Hiplife musician, Joseph Nkrumah Boabeng, known in showbiz as Nero X, is complaining about the lack of support from investors for the music industry.

He said, "We lack investors. These Nigerians don't fear when it comes to their creative arts so that is what Ghana needs to stand up for.”

In his view, investors are scared to invest in the Ghanaian creative art industry because they fear they might lose but emphasised that, the industry had a lot of talent and benefits.

He said, “talent cannot get anywhere without money so we need investors to invest in us.”

Nero X was speaking on Hitz FM's Entertainment This Week with MzGee on what he made of the Ghanaian music industry.

He said the Ghanaian music industry has bright prospects and the players need to sit up and work harder.

Nero X stated that, contrary to reports, he is not a gospel artiste. “I am a highlife artiste and because you can do all kinds of genre when it comes to music, [doing] gospel with highlife doesn't make me a branded gospel artiste, I am a highlife artiste,” he added.

Recounting his journey as an underground artiste, he said, he took part in three reality shows to prove his worth. In the first two reality shows, he emerged first and second runner-up.

Luck smiled on him in the reality show, Born Stars, where he emerged winner.

On his perceptions of reality shows in Ghana, Nero said, "You get all the hype you want free of charge; they show your face on TV without you paying nothing. But when it comes to the prices, though we can't be perfect, I think the organisers should work harder and when someone wins anything, they should give them what they are due.”

He believed that, being a Fante rap artiste, there is a great future for music in that language. "Everything is based on time and I will say we were learning underground and then studying what is in the market but the 'Twi' guys are doing great.”
