Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, has dismissed suggestions that he lacks influence or resources in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, insisting he actively supports delegates when he engages them.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, January 17, the flagbearer aspirant said it would be misleading to portray him as politically weak or detached from party realities.
According to Dr Adutwum, his engagements with party delegates are practical and respectful, reflecting a mutual understanding of party traditions.
“I’m not a man of straw,” he stated, adding, “I also give to NPP delegates when I visit them.”
He explained that such gestures are part of normal political interactions and should not be misinterpreted or exaggerated.
He stressed that beyond material support, his engagements focus on ideas, competence and a shared vision for the future of the party.
“When I speak to the delegates, they listen because they know I have something to offer—experience, ideas and a track record,” Dr Adutwum said, pointing to his work in government and Parliament as evidence of his credibility.
