Former Black Stars Striker, Yaw Preko says it is always a privilege to wear the colours of the national team.
Describing it as ‘a sign of readiness for battle in defence of your nation’ the agile Black Stars speedster said there was always an extra motivation to play for the Black Stars.
He was recounting his days of glory in a chat with former team mates Ablade Kumah on Joe Addo's Take.
The three players agreed that wearing the Black Stars jersey was more of an honour which no amount of money can buy.
It will be recalled that Cameroon’s World Cup squad earlier refused to board the plane to Brazil due to long-running dispute over bonus payments for the tournament.
Joe Addo was particularly happy that issues of this nature had not come up with the Black Stars ahead of this tournament.
He added that, coverage and support for matches in their era wasn’t as great as it is today, especially with corporate sponsorship and media coverage.
Social media, in his view, has enhanced publicity of the World cup, with the changing dynamics in football.
Ablade Kumah is optimistic that the team will perform creditably well in the tournament, adding that, the boys have had adequate training and will go far in the tournament.
‘Their body language shows they are eager to showcase themselves and not get complacent for beating the US twice’ he maintained.
He however conceded that, it will not be an easy game to play.
The former players urged Ghanaians to hoist their flags in support of the Black Stars not only in the game against U.S.A but throughout the tournament.
