Ghanaian music producer and the Chief Executive Officer of Xtra Large Music, Joshua Raphaelson, popularly known as JMJ has paid a glowing tribute to musicians that played roles in music the works of his former artiste Kaakie.
In a Facebook post, he published an artwork that shows some musicians that contributed to Kaakie's music.
The post was captioned: "Better late than never. An opportunity to once again thank all who contributed in every big or small way. Love and support, I ask the energies repay y’all with double energy."
In an exclusive interview with Joy Entertainment, JMJ said even though Kaakie was super talented, he needed more experienced songwriters to help with her songs.
He said musicians like Lingua Kat, Edem, Samini, Sarkodie, Ghetto KB, Wutah Kobby, Stonebwoy, Adi Virgo, Klem and others, played supported Kaakie’s projects through songwriting. He also indicated that Ubeatz also mixed and mastered the songs.
"Kaakie was very fortunate but she also worked hard, I have never seen a talented young lady like Kaakie. That girl spent less than 10 minutes in the studio, learning the song and the next thing she is done. Her first take is the best. Even if I recorded 100 takes, I would always go back to the first take.
I assembled a pool of the best skilled writers and composers. Of course, let me give myself credit. Coupled with my experience in production and music, I just knew exactly what to do," he said.
Talking about the music making process, he said he would usually produce the beat, give the songwriters a subject to write about, before they composed the songs.
He mentioned how Elorm Beenie or the songwriters would always be available to explain the lyrics to Kaakie so she was able to interpret the words well in her delivery.
"Highgrade was the base and it was my studio that all this happened, so today Stone will come in, tomorrow Lingua Kat will come in, Samini, Edem and all the others," he said.
A few months ago, Stonebwoy faced criticism for saying he wrote the first three hit songs of Kaakie. Lingua Kat, castigated him for his comments, saying he was rather the one that wrote all the hit songs that Kaakie released.
JMJ's post, therefore, confirms Stonebwoy's involvement in the songwriting activity for Kaakie and acknowledges the fact that there were many other people including Lingua Kat, whose dedication and creativity also helped grow the Kaakie brand.
In 2017, Kaakie parted ways with JMJ's Xtra Large music after producing hit songs such as 'Too Much', 'Koomcha', 'DC Turn Up', 'Zuuchia', among others.
Apart from working with Kaakie, JMJ has done productions for artistes such as Samini, 4x4, Bryan The Mensah, Kofi Jamar, Obrafour, Amerado, Strongman, Stonebwoy, Mugeez, Iwan, Jupitar, among a blizzard of other celebrated artistes.
In the meantime, JMJ has hinted at releasing a music project soon.
