Joe Mettle will be hoping to make his Gospel Artiste of the Year win at the Ghana Music Awards win double after receiving his second of such nomination at the National Gospel Music Awards.
Making history as the first Gospel musician to win the Artiste of the Year at the annual Ghana Music Awards in April this year, Joe Mettle will have to beat other gospel greats to make the Best Gospel Artiste win a second win.
The ‘Onwanwani’ hit singer will face off with some of the country’s best gospel acts, Obaapa Christie, Gifty Osei, Akesse Brempong, Diana Antwi Hamilton, OJ and Brother Sammy, at this year’s National Gospel Music Awards.
Apart from the Gospel Artiste of the Year, Joe Mettle received a nomination for the ‘Male Worship Song of the Year’ and ‘Gospel Male Vocalist of the Year’.
One nomination that has got Ghanaians talking since the nominees were revealed is that of actor and musician Lil Win. The comic actor received a nomination for the Best Traditional Gospel Song of the Year category with his song, ‘Fawo Ladder.’
UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician Sonnie Badu received a nomination in the African Gospel category and will battle it out with Nathaniel Bassey and Preye for that award.
The late music producer George Forest, born George Yaw Owusu, who passed away on August 31, 2016, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, has been nominated for an award.
He received a nomination in the Producer of the Year category alongside Morris Babyface, Nacee, Daniel Bassey, Shadrack Yawson, and Prince Owusu Agyeman.
The National Gospel Music Awards, organised by Royal Akofena Entertainment in partnership with the Kumasi Business Unit of The Multimedia Group, will see artistes slug it out for honours in 31 categories.
The Awards seeks to recognise and appreciate the contribution of gospel artistes in the creative arts sector.
The main Awards comes off in October this year.
