Joy FM has unveiled the speakers for the 7th Showbiz Roundtable, scheduled for Saturday, 6th September 2025, on Joy 99.7 FM.
Themed “GRA Vs. Creatives – Taxation and the Future of Ghana’s Creative & Digital Economy”, the event will bring together officials from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and key players in the creative industry to deliberate on taxation and its impact on the sector.
Leading the conversation from the GRA will be Victor Yao Akogo, Chief Revenue Officer at the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, and Isaac Kobina Amoako, Chief Revenue Officer and Head of the GRA IT Training Centre.
Representing the creative industry are Kojo Poku, Vice President of the Event and Meeting Professionals Association of Ghana, Francis Doku, Chief Executive Officer of Maestro Africa Group, Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, and Latif Abubakar, Playwright and CEO of Globe Production.
The discussion will explore how taxation affects the growth of the creative economy and address widespread concerns about the high levies on cultural and creative activities, which many argue are stifling business in the space.
Stakeholders such as event organisers, DJs, MCs, artiste managers, bloggers and YouTubers are expected to participate and engage officials in an open, constructive forum.
The 7th edition follows last year’s Showbiz Roundtable, which examined mental health in the creative sector. That conversation featured artistes like Ko-Jo Cue, broadcaster and counselling psychologist Natalia Andoh, creative entrepreneur NanaYaw Wiredu, and health professionals Nortey Dua and Dr Albert Sedohia, who highlighted challenges and possible interventions.
Since its inception, the Showbiz Roundtable has tackled issues such as post-event safety, sponsorship, manifesto debates on the creative economy and mental health, cementing its role as a platform where policy and creativity converge.
The event airs live at 2 pm on Joy 99.7 FM and Joy Prime television. It is hosted by Kwame Dadzie and produced by Philip Nai, with production support from Anita Teye, Martin Kwadwo Asare and Olivier Fangon.
