Ewe Association of Georgia provides Bincha Basic School 3 unit classroom structure following Joy News feature.
Infrastructure deficit at the Bincha Basic School in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region has partly been solved following provision of a 3 unit classroom block.
The Ewe Association of Georgia, USA who financed construction of the classroom block also provided 20 dual desks after learning of the schools’s plight through a Joy News feature.
The feature highlighted the adverse effect on academic activities due to the lack of teachers, furniture, infrastructure, learning and teaching materials.
The school had only 3 classrooms available to house 8 classes. The rest 5 classes were housed under thatch structures where teaching and learning activities are disrupted by unfavorable weather conditions.
Some pupils are compelled to sit on woods, cement blocks and the bare floor as the school suffers furniture deficit.

Nonetheless, the feature put together by award winning journalist, Joseph Opoku Gakpo, yielded positive results.
The Ewe Association in Georgia came to the rescue of the school by providing a 3 unit structure and 20 pieces of mono dual desks.
Benjamin Nutsutse who handed over the classroom block to the school expressed his association’s delight in helping to solve the challenged that had impeded academic activities of the Bincha Basic School.
“We [Ewe Association of Georgia] are happy to have helped this young ones who would become beneficial individuals to the country in the future.”
He indicated the association would consider providing more structures and other academic logistics to the school to ensure the pupils have access to quality education.
The Headmaster of the school, Asiamah Kinsley Lucas, was appreciative of the gesture and lauded Joy News for exposing challenges that had impeded academic activities in the school.
“We can’t express our joy and appreciation for this gesture, we promise to put it into good use while we wait for more structures and other teaching and learning materials.
