The JoyFM Easter Soup-Kitchen, one of Multimedia Group Limited’s flagship CSR events where hundreds of underprivileged persons are given meals for a day, is set to return.

The event was held annually until two years ago, when it was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But come Easter Sunday, that is, April 17, a targeted number of over 2000 less privileged persons will be treated to meals that your favourite presenters will cook under the supervision of professional chefs.

Group Head of Marketing at Multimedia, David Max-Fugah, said that with the help of sponsors and volunteers, the Joy FM Easter Soup Kitchen will be coming into full force this year.

“Every year on Easter Sunday or Easter Monday, we provide hot meals for our less fortunate brothers and sisters. This year, after a short break, we are back. And we are doing it this time at the Joy FM car park.”

He added that what makes this year’s event exciting is the chefs who have been booked to do the cooking.

“For the first time, the chefs will be the Joy FM staff; our presenters, our support staff, our management, our audience, our clients. So everybody would be there to prepare the meal,” he said.

Going through the agenda for the day, Mr Max-Fugah said that the meals would be packaged and served around 6 pm across neighbouring places around JoyFM.

“Because we believe that some of our intended beneficiaries are observing the Ramadan. And so we want to serve them just when they’re breaking the fast for the day. So this year, we are focusing on our immediate neighbours. We are focusing on the people in Kokomlemle. We are focusing on Alajo, Nima, Kotobabi, Adabraka.”

He added that he is hopeful that next year would be bigger and better to expand the reach of the Easter Soup Kitchen.

Mr Max-Fugah called on sponsors to come on board to serve more underprivileged persons.

This year’s Easter Soup Kitchen is sponsored by Wilmar and will be broadcast across all the Joy platforms; JoyFM, JoyNews, Myjoyonline and others.

“We have had the support of Wilmar, who has supplied us rice, cooking oil, seasoning, Frytol seasoning, Frytol cooking oil, and Fortune.”
