Mr Godwin Nyamekye, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) says traders who were relocated to North Suntreso due to a demolition exercise at the Kumasi Race Course would only be there for two weeks.
He said plans are far advanced to get a permanent place for them to undertake their trading activities.
Speaking to Joy News, Mr Nyamekye said the KMA is committed to the growth of business within the metropolis and it was as part of the effort to sustain business transactions in the affected areas that is why the traders were sent to Suntreso temporarily.
The demolition exercise which was carried out by the KMA for the construction of the Sun City project being executed by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was nearly stopped by angry residents who were present at the Race Course, but they were forced out of the place.
An angry resident told Joy News in an interview that residents were not educated about the reason for the exercise.
