After 13 weeks of intense competition, 20-year-old Koo Ntakra Akuffo from the Eastern region has won the second edition of the MTN Hitmaker reality show.
The Akwuapim rapper beat three other hopefuls, Cano Z, Kofi Korea and K Bee to win the mouthwatering prize of an artiste management deal worth GH¢100, 000.
On the night where all the four finalist brought their 'A' game to bear, it was Koo Ntakara's agility that did the trick for him. He stood tall with his superb rap skills.
Before the competition started on the night, evicted contestant Trozo, and female dancehall artiste, AK took turns to warm patrons who trooped to the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) Friday night for the finale.
After those performances which ushered in the judges - Bessa Simons, Ofie Kodjoe and Zapp Mallet - it was show time.
The first round of the finale saw the four contestants thrilling audiences and judges with their own selection of songs. Per the criteria for the reality show, contestants only perform their originally composed songs.
Would-be gospel musician, K Bee started the first round of performances followed by Cano Z, who preceeded his performance with a short play. Kofi Korea and Koo Ntakara ended the first round.
The second round, which was purely a live band round, was preceeded by performances from MTN Hitmaker season one first runner up, Miriam, and gospel great Ohemaa Mercy.
K Bee once again started the second round and his performance received the comments "You are going to be the next biggest gospel sensation" from Zapp Mallet.
Tema-based Kofi Korea followed and after his performance, Ofie Kodjoe remarked "You are a very serious performer," with Zapp Mallet confessing to be "mesmerized" by Koo Ntakara's thrilling showpiece. Volta Djata (Volta Lion) Cano Z capped the second round performances.
The last lap of the finale saw the finalists perform songs selected for them by their audience - Audience choice.
Koo Ntakara kicked off the final round and in a dramatic fashion, he took his performance a notch higher. His performance received wild cheers from the audience and Zapp Mallet disclosed that, "once again you have succeeded in mesmerizing me".
Neatly dressed K Bee followed and then came an impressive Agbadza-filled showpiece from Cano Z. Kofi Korea completed the final round.
After the performances, Koo Ntakra, son of a banku seller was adjudged the best of the four finalists whilst Cano Z came second. Cano Z walked home with a management deal worth GH¢50, 000.
Kofi Korea and K Bee came third and fourth respectively.
K Bee won 'Best Dressed Contestant' while sound engineer Decoder was adjudged 'Best Engineer'.
MTN Hitmaker season one winner, Naterial, hiplife artiste, Guru, and Nigerian music star, Iyanya also took turns to rock the finale.
