Ghana international Mohammed Kudus says his latest goal celebration symbolised "authority and kingship" as he scored in West Ham United's league game on Saturday.
The Black Stars midfielder netted the equaliser for the Hammers who picked up a 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion at home.
Mats Wieffer gave Brighton the lead after 51 minutes played. However, seven minutes later, Kudus drew the Hammers level with a header.
The Ghanaian then brought out a customised elephant stool from the sidelines. He sat on it together with Crysencio Summerville, going different from the usual pose on the steward’s seat.
Quizzed about his celebration after the game, Kudus said, "As you know, I used to borrow the one from the stewards, and I thought about the idea of where I am from."
"This is a stool from Ghana. The chiefs sit on it, so it is very special. It shows authority and kingship, so I thought why not do something different?!"
The left-footed midfielder also explained his decision to shift away from the usual sitting on the board which has been used many times.
"As you know, there are a lot of people sitting on the board now, and there’s a lot of conversation about it, so when I bring out my stool now, this is mine, and nobody can do it," he noted.
With his goal against Brighton, Kudus has now scored three goals in 12 Premier League games this season.
