Hundreds of structures are to be demolished this morning in Kumasi as the Ashanti regional ministry is beginning a decongestion exercise.
The Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong had earlier indicated over the weekend that the military must demolish structures on pavements at Adum, Kejetia and its environs.
Samuel Sarpong who has been the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) does not shy away from demolition exercise thought to be politically suicidal.

In 2009, he ordered the demolition of 80 unauthorized buildings sited on watercourses in order to stop what authorities described as human-induced flooding in the city.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in the first week of March 2011 embarked on a massive demolition exercise at Atafoa Boahia. About 70 unauthorized houses were penciled for demolition.
