The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kwadaso Municipality, Eric Assibey, has called on residents to collaborate closely with the police to tackle the increasing spate of criminal activities in the municipality.
Mr Assibey, who also chairs the municipality’s Security Council, appealed the official handing over of a motorcycle to the Denkyemuoso District Police Command, donated by the Hilltop Executive Estate Landlords Association.
“The Association's donation of the motorcycle to the police command is commendable; it shows what can be achieved when committed individuals come together,” he said.
The MCE stressed that ensuring security is a shared responsibility, urging Ghanaians to support security agencies in their communities.
“Ensuring our security personnel are well-equipped is key to maintaining national stability and tackling the surge in crime. It's high time we recognise that this shouldn’t be the government’s burden alone — we all have a role to play,” he added.
Mr Assibey also commended the professionalism and dedication of the police and other security personnel, noting that their strong relationship with residents has been crucial in maintaining peace in the municipality.
Chief Superintendent Owoahene Kaakyire Asiedu Acheampong, Abuakwa Divisional Police Commander, echoed the call for residents’ involvement, saying citizens bear about 70% of the responsibility for security.
“Residents should report suspicious activities to the police to enable us to conduct investigations,” he said, highlighting the critical role of community-police collaboration in crime prevention.
The motorcycle, according to the police, will strengthen the patrol team’s capacity to conduct operations across Kwadaso and neighbouring communities, ensuring a safer environment for residents.
Chairperson of the Hilltop Executive Estate Landlords Association, Charles Kusi-Manu, said the donation reflects their commitment to social responsibility and local safety.
“We noticed a spike in criminal activities, especially robberies, before last year’s Christmas celebrations. After meeting with the MCE and the Denkyemuoso Police Commander, we pledged to donate a motorcycle to the patrol team to help keep our community safe,” he explained.
Through such initiatives, both local authorities and residents hope to reinforce security, reduce crime, and foster safer communities across Kwadaso.
