Black Stars Coach Kwasi Appiah has told Joy Sports he is content with Kwadwo Asamoah's output so far in the left back position.
The Juventus player was handed the left back role in the first two games against the USA and Germany.
According to Coach Appiah he decided to hand Asamoah the role due to his ability to function as a utility player and has so far delivered well to his expectations.
"I am surprised when people say Kwadwo is playing in a new role. This is the same to role he has been playing at Juventus for the last two years. He adapts himself to every position and for me has been one of my best players so far," the Ghana Manager told Joy Sports.
Many football pundits argued ahead of the start of the match that the former Udinese and Juventus player is most effective in the attacking midfield role.
But Coach Appiah explained that he used Kwadwo Asamoah in the left back role because there were many options in midfield.
"You only use Kwadwo in the midfield when you don't have too many options there. The most important thing is that his performance is helping the country so I don't see anything wrong with placing him in that position," Kwasi Appiah said.
The options in the left back role and for that matter the defence of the Black Stars team became a big subject of debate ahead of Ghana's participation in the World Cup.
This left Coach Kwasi Appiah giving many assurances about the availability of many utility options.
Kwadwo Asamoah joined Juventus from Undinese and has since commanded a starting role in every game. He has also won two league titles with the clubs so far.
