NPP National Youth Organiser Sammy Awuku has chided Deputy Trade minister Robert Ahomka Lindsay for describing some Ghanaians living in the Diaspora as 'whiners'.
He told Joy News Thursday, the appointee's comments do not match with the demeanour of his appointing authority, the President.
“Nobody likes whiners, people that spend all the time whining all the time really get on people’s nerves so stop whining,” the Deputy Minister said at a Diaspora Homecoming Summit at the Accra International Conference Centre last Thursday.
A participant in a livid reaction to the comment by the deputy minister said in a rhetorical question “who travels 3,000 miles to be a whiner?”
The deputy minister has explained his actions but fell short of rendering an unqualified apology.
Expressing disappointment, Sammy Awuku warned that Mr. Lindsay's attitude at the conference could chip away the goodwill towards the government and lead to disenchantment among the voting public.

Awuku said Lindsay's complaint about his incessantly buzzing phone since his appointment does not mirror the conduct of President Akufo-Addo who works himself off in his service to the public.
He said the President works till it's almost midnight and testified that the president left his office at 2am last Monday.
He said appointees therefore should reflect the modesty of the president.
Sammy Awuku said he was raising "early warning signs" to appointees in the 7-month old government not to go the way of the deputy minister.
