Sexy songstress Efya opens the 2013 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) with a very captivating performance followed by Ghana’s Afropop sensation Fuse ODG who charged the venue with his smash hit Antenna. Actor and comedian Lil Win storms the stage with his old school swagger to introduce Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and songstress Eazzy as hosts of this year's awards. Gospel songstress Herty Borngreat, who is currently on a campaign to infuse some youthful exuberance into the gospel music scene, took the stage and performed her hit song 'Kano Seyaa'. Hiplife trio, 4x4 were next. Looking fresh as usual, they electrified the venue with 'Mokoni', 'Anadwo Yede' and 'London Bridge' First award of the night, 'Gospel Song of the Year' goes to Zaphenat Panea Nicholas Omane Acheampong. 'Reggae Dancehall Song of the Year' goes to 'Toffee Pon Tongue' by Kaakie. Hi-life Song of the Year goes to Odo by R2Bees. Rapper M.Anifest hits the stage to perform Makaa Maka. He ushers in the legendary Amandzeba who takes the awards back into time. He performed several hit songs including the popular Wogbe. Afropop Song of the Year goes to Antenna by Fuse ODG. Hiphop Song of the Year goes to Makaa Maka by M.Anifest. Hiplife Song of the Year goes Life (Walahi) by R2Bees. Now the award show rewinds its clock to the genesis of hiplife music. Music duo, Akatakyie hits stage unleashing some of their well known tunes. Akatakyie has been out of the music scene for sometime now but tonight's performance was as if they never left. Their Odo Esisi Me got patrons on their feet singing along. The old school fiesta was not over. Kontihene was next and what a performance he gave. He performed several songs including, Esi, Aketesia and Asesa. Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year goes to R2Bees. Hi-life Artiste of the Year goes to Afriyie. Gospel Artiste of the Year goes to Herty Borngreat. Rapper E.L. starts the next batch of performances. He starts his performance with One Ghana and backed by some sexy dancers, he capped his performance with Kaalu. He was followed by Tema-based rapper Cris Waddle who thrilled patrons to his smash hit Ayi. Hiplife duo, Keche took the stage backed by four neatly dressed dancers. With their splendid Azonto dance moves, they performed Slow Motion and their hit song Aluguntugui. African Artiste of the Year goes to Wizkid. Female Vocal Performance goes to Efya. Male Vocal Performance goes to Knii Lante. Rapper of the Year goes to M.Anifest. The King of the Streets, Kwaw Kese hits the stage with an ironing board and a box iron. He irons his t-shirt on stage and wears it. When he finally started his performance, Nonsense, Poppin and Let Me Do My Thing filled every inch of space of the Accra International Conference Centre. Nigerian music star Banky W brought his sleekness onto the stage. With such agility and backed by three neatly dressed dancers, the Nigerian got patrons on their feet. When he dropped his smash hit Yes/No, the crowd couldn't stop singing along. Best Collaboration of the Year goes to Kano Seyaa by Herty Borngreat and Trigmatic. Group of the Year goes to R2Bees. Best Music Video of the Year goes to Lonely by Chase. The 2010 and 2012 Artiste of the Year, Sarkodie took the stage to do what he does best. With his never ending and tongue twisting flows, the Tema-based rapper was busy rocking the stage like never before. He performed You Already Know and Illuminate. New Artiste of the Year goes to Kaakie. Album of the Year goes to Something Else by E.L. Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year goes to Life (Walahi) by R2Bees. Nigerian music superstar Wizkid makes his much anticipated entry onto the stage. He brought his game on proving to Ghanaians why he is currently hottest act on the African continent. He thrilled his audience to some of his smash hits including Baddest Boy, The Matter and Samba. Tema-based R2Bees, who were on a winning spree took over the show. They rocked the audience to some of their hit tunes. Patrons danced to songs such as It's Alright, Life and Odo. R2Bees, shortly after that performance, were crowned Artiste of the Year.
