The convicted former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, is scheduled to appear before a United States court on January 21, 2026.
This is according to Ghana’s Ambassador to the US, Victor Smith.
This confirmation comes amid a public dispute over her current location in US custody.
Ambassador Smith made the disclosure on JoyNews' The Pulse on January 16, refuting a report by Asaase Radio that questioned whether Tamakloe was actually being held at the Nevada Southern Detention Centre, as previously stated by the Ghanaian embassy.
" I have heard it from official sources, where this lady is being kept, and that she's going to go to court on the 21st (January)," the Ambassador stated.
The Asaase Radio report, also published on January 16, claimed that a review of the detention centre's online inmate roster did not list Sedina Tamakloe Attionu. This cast doubt on the embassy's initial confirmation of her detention at the facility.
Ambassador Smith dismissed the media outlet's findings, framing them as an attempt to create confusion.
“I don't know where they're coming from, why they want to muddy the waters,” he said.
He added that Asaase Radio had sought his comment, but he declined to engage due to what he termed their "mischief."
