The former Chief Executive Officer of the defunct UT Bank and UT Holdings, Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng (Rtd), says former President John Mahama will emerge victorious in the upcoming 2024 general election.
Captain Amoabeng said Ghanaians have experimented with various systems, and it is now time to give the former President another opportunity to address any previous mistakes.
In an interview with Starr FM on Thursday, January 25, he emphasised that Mr. Mahama possesses experience and will know how to collaborate with the right people.
He also mentioned that despite some people perceiving the cost of living in 2016 as challenging, he did not personally share that sentiment.
I didn’t vote for the NDC or the NPP, if you want to know who I voted for, I voted for Dzogbenuku. I knew the votes wouldn’t count but I voted for her. In 2020 my bank was taken, so why will I vote for the NPP?”
“It is early yet to decide on 2024, but in my rational self, Ghana has tried a whole lot of things. We have tried military coups, democracies, parliamentary type, presidential type and I think the only thing we haven’t tried is somebody who has been President before.”
“So I think it’s John Mahama he has been in the position before and therefore when he comes back. He knows the path to tread. He knows who to trust and people not to trust. I think John Mahama will win in 2024.”
Mr. Amoabeng remarked that the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shown that they are not superior in the governance of the nation.
“I think one thing most Ghanaians say and I agree with them is that we had high hopes for the NPP. Because we thought at the time that the NDC had disappointed us and of course, it is easy to narrate all the problems that we were going through at the time.
“But certainly, the NPP has shown that they are not a better alternative and it is even worse. Because we say because they took your bank, forget it.
"As for my bank it is gone and if it doesn’t come to me myself I am waiting for my death. At 72 you don’t have much time to live,” Mr. Amoateng stated.
