A trader has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly sexually exploiting and harbouring a 17-year-old female for over one year.
Cesar Victoire Tsala, 55, is alleged to have promised the victim of securing her a football team but ended up subjecting her to sexual bouts.
Tsala, a Cameroonian, is facing charges of human trafficking, abduction of an unmarried female under 18 and Raping a female aged 17.
The court presided over by Mrs Evelyn Asamoah could not take his plea because the accused person chose that his plea should be taken in French.
According to him, he was fluent in French.
However, there was no French interpreter available; hence, the court adjourned the matter to September 29, 2025, by which time arrangements would have been made to get a French interpreter.
Tsala is alleged to have abducted the victim, who was writing her West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the year 2024 from Spintex- Accra, for a year, and her whereabouts were unknown to the family.
On September 12, 2025, the victim, a Nigerian, managed to flee from the suspect and lodged a report that she was forcefully transported to Kasoa and subsequently to East Legon, where she was sexually abused by Tsala.
Tsala is said to have lured and abducted the victim under the pretext of protecting and providing her with basic necessities, teaching her French language and securing her a football team to join, but failed.
