Two persons have been arraigned before a Circuit Court in Accra for allegedly robbing a Yango driver of his mobile phone and GH¢1,500 at Teshie.
Eric Adjetey Adjei, 26, unemployed, and Godwine Abbey, 21, a fisherman, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime and robbery.
The Court, presided over by Kwabena Kodua Obiri-Yeboah, granted each accused bail in the sum of GH¢50,000, with two sureties, and ordered the prosecution to file and serve the disclosures.
Adjei and Abbey are to reappear before the Court on March 3, 2026.
The prosecution said the complainant, Samuel Coffie, was the driver of a Daihatsu Move saloon car with registration number GT 2714-25.
On August 11, 2025, at about 0500 hours, Adjei and Abbey allegedly requested to be conveyed from Teshie Mobil to the LEKMA Hospital area.
The prosecution said that on reaching a section of the road at Teshie, they opted to alight near the hospital.
The Court heard that Adjei, who was seated in front, opened the door and allegedly snatched a Remi A1 mobile phone and GH¢1,500 from Coffie.
A struggle ensued, and Coffie reportedly ran into a gutter, while Adjei allegedly fled with the items.
An alarm was raised, and residents apprehended the accused, who were nearly lynched.
Police intervened, rescued them and sent them to the hospital for treatment.
They were later discharged.
The prosecution said in their caution statements that Adjei and Abbey admitted the offence.
