JoyNews checks have uncovered the massive destruction of the Jimira Forest Reserve by illegal miners.
The investigation reveals that vast stretches of the protected area have been cleared, with deep pits and toxic chemicals left in the wake of the miners' activities.
Environmental experts have already warned that such devastation could have long-term consequences for biodiversity, water sources, and local communities that depend on the forest for their livelihoods.
