The Moroccan Under-17 national team will face Zambia on Thursday, April 3, at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, in a decisive Group A match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The tournament, hosted in Morocco, runs until April 19.
Both teams enter the match in top form, having secured dominant victories in their opening games—Morocco thrashed Uganda 5-0, while Zambia outclassed Tanzania 4-1.
A win for Morocco would guarantee a spot in the semi-finals before their final group-stage match against Tanzania on Sunday.
More importantly, it would also secure their qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, as the top four teams in the tournament automatically earn a place at the global event.
This would mark another major achievement for Moroccan football, highlighting the success of youth development initiatives led by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
In the previous edition of the U-17 AFCON in 2023, Morocco finished as runners-up, losing to Senegal in the final.
With a strong start to this year’s campaign, coach Nabil Baha’s squad is determined to go one step further and claim the continental title.
