MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett and MTN Group’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Manager, Nompilo Morafo, on Wednesday, September 4, participated in the Digital Africa Summit held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
The event brought together telecom experts, business personalities, and policy makers from Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.

Other members from MTN included the Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Madam Adwoa Wiafe Afriyie, and the Senior Corporate Communications Manager, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu.
The summit, attended by industry stakeholders and policymakers, was the platform for discussions on Ghana's digital transformation and potential economic growth.
The event highlighted a recent report by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), which revealed that Ghana could unlock over GH¢40 billion in new economic value by 2029 if bold digital reforms are implemented across key sectors.

The report emphasised the importance of affordable connectivity, digital skills, financial inclusion, trust frameworks, and government-driven demand for local innovations.
Ghana's digital transformation could create nearly 450,000 new jobs by 2029, with 190,000 in agriculture and 110,000 in industry, but the device affordability remains a major obstacle, with industry players expecting the government to introduce reforms to enhance financial inclusion and expand connectivity.

The participation of Mr Blewett and Mr Morafo in the Digital Africa Summit underscores MTN's commitment to driving digital transformation in Ghana.
Their presence at the summit highlights the importance of collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators in shaping the country's digital future.
Ghana's digital economic policy and strategy are anchored on four pillars: infrastructure, skills, trust, and innovation.
