T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (SHS), Kumasi, has commemorated a significant milestone of academic and sporting excellence and religious tolerance.

The school's 75th Anniversary and Speech and Prize Giving Day showcased a dynamic blend of academic excellence, cultural heritage, and a forward-looking vision. 

The occasion also underscored a significant achievement in the history of T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, popularly known as Real Amass, highlighting its journey of nurturing disciplined, intelligent, and visionary young men and women. 

The co-educational second-cycle institution has been committed to fostering religious tolerance since its establishment by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in 1950.

The colourful event, graced by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was held under the theme "75 Years of Holistic Education and Religious Tolerance -Consolidating Academic Excellence: Role of Stakeholders".

The Headmistress, Hajia Zainab Adams, highlighted the school's notable achievements in well-rounded education that emphasizes moral values and spiritual growth.

Elaborating on the theme, she stated that T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School has consistently embraced religious tolerance as a core value in everyday school life. She emphasized that this mission has been more than just words; it is actively practiced in classrooms, dormitories, gatherings, and all daily interactions.

"Students from different faith or backgrounds have studied and grown together in mutual respect. This remains one of our outstanding and exemplary contribution to national development," she said.

According to the headmistress, the record of the School provides clear evidence of this unique tradition.

She pointed out that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana can vouch for this legacy, as T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School has produced two of their distinguished Moderators, namely the Very Reverend Dr. Sam Prempeh and the Very Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso.

"Many other alumni of the school have emerged as leaders of religious groups. This is a strong reminder that real AMASS has consistently combined conviction with respect and identity with coexistence," Hajia Zainab noted.

Regarding discipline, she stated that Real AMASS would not compromise on it for anything else.

She explained that the school administration collaborates with the Parent-Teacher Association to enhance discipline within the school.

"It is on record that the School has never witnessed any violent demonstration after 75 years of progression and this is exemplary and worthy of celebrating," she revealed. 

Deputy Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, encouraged the students to maintain their commitment to self-discipline and uphold the principles of ethical leadership.

He expressed concern about the decline in discipline among students in some second-cycle institutions, stating that such attitudes will not be tolerated.

He stated that the Ministry of Education is committed to providing support to teachers and school administrators in their efforts to instill discipline and patriotism in students.

Dr. Apaak urged parents and guardians to accept responsibility for instilling good behavior in their children before they are enrolled in school.

He also advised the students to focus on their education and refrain from any behavior that could jeopardize their bright future. 

The Deputy Education Minister is of the view that when all stakeholders fulfill their responsibilities, the nation will benefit from having proactive and energetic young people in the future.

As part of the anniversary festivities, the Asantehene commissioned a Girls' Dormitory, which was dedicated to the memory of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

A major highlight of the celebration was the presentation of prizes and awards to deserving teachers and students for outstanding performance in academics, leadership, and extra-curricular activities.

Other dignitaries who attended the event included the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Ghana and notable alumnus of T.I. Amass, Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, Alhaji Adam Kofi Yamoah, Owner and Chairman of AKY Mining Services Limited.

The audience was treated to captivating performances from the Real Amass Drama Club, School Dance Band, and Cultural Troupe. The School Cadet Corps also staged a disciplined Guard of Honour, receiving applause from invited guests and dignitaries.
