The Multimedia Group Limited has paid a condolence visit to the family of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known worldwide as Daddy Lumba, after his passing on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
He died at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, following a brief illness, at the age of 60.
A delegation comprising representatives from JOY FM, JOY Prime, Adom TV, Adom FM, and Asempa FM gathered at the musician’s family home to pay their respects and express heartfelt solidarity during this painful time.
Joining friends, industry colleagues, and fans, the group honoured the incredible legacy of a man whose music profoundly shaped Ghana’s musical landscape across generations.
Senior News Editor in Charge of Special Assignments at Adom Brands, A. C. Ohene, signed the condolence book on behalf of the group.
In a tribute he penned:
“To us, a national icon; to our Maker, a son returned. We take comfort in the hope that someday we shall meet again in eternity. Daddy Lumba, the Adom Brands salute you. Multimedia bids you, Damirifa Due.”

The delegation described Daddy Lumba as a musical trailblazer, lauding his enduring influence. Over nearly four decades, he released more than 33 albums and over 200 songs, blending traditional highlife with modern elements while deeply reflecting Ghanaian culture.
Lexis Bill (Louis Kwame Sakyi Armah), host of Drive Time on JOY FM and a devoted fan, offered this tribute:
“Rest in peace, Daddy Lumba. Your music was more than entertainment; it was the soundtrack to our lives. Thank you for sharing your soul and your art with the world. Da yie, legend.”

In response, the family expressed gratitude for the visit and confirmed they will soon share details of the one-week observance and funeral arrangements.

They also requested privacy while grieving the profound loss. In turn, the Multimedia Group pledged to support and help publicise the scheduled announcements to ensure Daddy Lumba is celebrated appropriately.
The delegation included brand managers, presenters, producers, and sales and marketing executives—reflecting the Multimedia Group’s collective appreciation for a national icon.

Tributes pour in for Lumba
• President John Mahama took to X (formerly Twitter) to mourn the passing of the music legend, writing that Lumba’s “unmatched musical genius provided the soundtrack to our lives” and that his legacy “will echo through the ages.”
• Nana Acheampong, his long-time collaborator, described the news as “a heavy blow and a deeply personal tragedy,” lamenting "Menua Kojo Fosu, why this shock?"
• Stonebwoy, part of the younger generation of Ghanaian musicians, wrote, “Legends never die,” emphasizing how Daddy Lumba shaped the sound of Ghana and African music at large.
The German Embassy in Accra also issued a tribute highlighting that Daddy Lumba’s formative years in Germany, where he co-founded the Lumba Brothers alongside Nana Acheampong, played a pivotal role in crafting Borga Highlife, a fusion of Ghanaian rhythm and Western musical influences.
