Ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has debunked allegations that he was funded by a state agency while revealing that he has completed another piece of work due to be aired in Easter. The Information Ministry had issued a statement claiming the investigations was funded by government. The deputy minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah said at the right time government will come out with the amount involved. The Government's statement led to criticisms from Enquirer Editor, Raymond Archer who argued government funding of the investigations was a breach of the journalism ethics. However, Anas maintained that he has never received money for any of his works from any state institution. “Let anybody come and show me a written contract that I have done this and that and that. It is not true; it doesn’t exist...can anybody pay me for my life?” he rhetorically asked. Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, he explained that his pieces of investigative work have been done in collaboration with some state agencies, one that did not involve any financial terms. Citing the cocoa smuggling instance in which some CEPS officials and police personnel were caught compromising their jobs, Anas said he contacted Ghana Cocoa Board to supply him with a truck-load of cocoa in order to facilitate his under-cover operation. Reacting to the report of the cocoa smuggling suspects being released after the prosecutor failed to turn up for any of the court proceedings, the ace investigative journalist stated that he would not be deterred by it but rather would remain resolute in his campaign to transform the nation. "Prosecution, yes it is important; we have had some major slips...[but] as for my focus towards the national agenda, it’s unblemished,” he said. Anas also made an exclusive revelation when he said he had completed another investigative work due to be released during the Easter Holidays. He however declined to reveal which institution it was.
